Jewels of Wisdom: 2015 IWR Interview Round-up!

IWR_Blogheader

This blog series is about creating a sacred space for women to share their stories, advice, words of wisdom, and challenges to help inspires us all.

It’s about raising our global consciousness to unite and learn from each other as the beautiful women we are. Together, we create a tapestry of love, connection, and wisdom. It’s from this place where we shine.

This month, I’m doing something a little different. Instead of interviewing another amazing woman, I’m choosing inspiring nuggets of insight from each person I’ve had the pleasure to interviewed this year.

I choose 2 questions, “What is one thing you wished you would have known when you were younger?” and “What do you want to tell the women of the world today?” Their answers gave me goosebumps. I know that I need to hear their words over and over again.

We all struggle at some point. The work and our job at that point is to not stay there. It’s to keep moving…

My gift to you is the wisdom from each these beautiful women. I encourage you to read their their insights and implement what speaks to you into your life. Enjoy!

What is one thing you wished you knew when you were younger?
I wish that I would have known how important it is to be yourself and that life does get easier. I was terribly introverted and so I feel that I missed out on things because I was too timid and too scared that others would make fun of me.

What do you want to tell the women of the world today?
You are strong, smart and beautiful. I hope to be as inspiring to others someday as you are to me every single day.

What is one thing you wished you knew when you were younger?
That I was beautiful and smart and worth it. I try so hard to make sure my kids know this about themselves, and that they have the confidence I did not as a child. It took me almost 40 years to get that.

What do you want to tell the women of the world today?
That they are beautiful and smart and worth it. Don’t focus on what others think of you or don’t think of you. Instead focus on yourself and what you can do to make your life better and more meaningful. The old saying you can never find love until you truly love yourself is so cliché, but also so true. Love yourself and the rest will fall into place.

What is one thing you wished you knew when you were younger?
If you really love something, do it now. Why wait? Going after what you really want does create change and often something is lost, but if you try to plan for the perfect time to seek the thing you really want, you are just losing time and getting more and more stuck.

What do you want to tell the women of the world today?
You need nothing or no one to tell you how precious you are. Go within for that. Seek refuge in the silent moments. Take a retreat. Go to nature. Women have a unique way of seeing reality… we can be ok with messiness – screaming in the car, having a tantrum, feeling fiery. However, in those moments we FIND ourselves. If we stopped trying to negate the REAL, LIVE, FULL moments in our lives, I think we’d all be saner, happier people.

What is one thing you wished you knew when you were younger?
Some of the mind-body practices I learned later in life including breath work, would have been very helpful meeting challenges when I was younger.

What do you want to tell the women of the world today?
Do not pay attention to the media. Go within to find your true purpose in life. Stay balanced.

What is one thing you wished you knew when you were younger?
I wish I would have believed in myself more and not let fear set me back. It really is about feeling the fear and doing it anyway. The more one exercises this muscle the stronger it gets.

What do you want to tell the women of the world today?
Feel the fear and do it anyway. Surround yourself with a supportive and nourishing network of folks that can help you get through the tough bits of life. I am a huge believer that we can do whatever we set our minds to do!

“Be true to thyself.” – Jacquie Berglund
